"I've been living here for about a year and a half, and the bad reviews? They were true and I really couldn't wait to finish our lease to leave, as the previous manager was really bad.
However, the property changed owners and management, and the new team (Lyn the new manager, Jose the maintenance coordinator, and the rest of them) is actually really good. I gave it a few months before I posted a review, but I think they deserve props. We actually just renewed our lease, as the location if you work/study at UF is practically unbeatable.
There are still things to improve, but overall I think Oakbrook is going in the right direction and it will become even better in the upcoming months.
EDIT: As of May 20th, 2024, things keep going really really well, the responsiveness from management has been incredible and we have been able to solve issues that we've had for almost a year.
Shout out to the lead maintenance person (Jose) and his crew, he's been not only quick to answer, but his work has been extremely good.

I can say that I am happy to live at Oakbrook Walk."

'This has been my home in Gainesville for the past few months. I felt so welcome from the day I got my reservation as the manager, Lyn, has been very accommodating and kind. My unit is clean and equipped with new appliances. It is also within a nice neighborhood. The management can be easily reached for assistance, whether by email, resident portal, or text message. I am very pleased that I, and my friends feel at home and safe, knowing that our manager Lyn has genuine concern for her residents."

"Having lived here for a year, I've witnessed a marked improvement in the management of Oakbrook Walk, all thanks to the new management team. One of the primary reasons I chose this complex was its reasonable pricing and close proximity to UF COM and Shands.

The most notable change has been in the handling of maintenance requests. Previously, repairs would drag on for days, sometimes even weeks and not be done correctly. But under the new management led by Jose, issues are promptly attended to. For instance, when my washer malfunctioned on a Sunday evening, I was pleasantly surprised to find it replaced and my load washed by the following afternoon. This level of efficiency and care exceeds expectations.

Lyn Sowell, the new manager, is a breath of fresh air! Unlike other managers and other apartments who seemed indifferent, Lyn genuinely cares about the residents. She is proactive in addressing concerns and finding solutions that benefit tenants. I highly recommend reaching out to her directly; she's always approachable and ready to assist. Speaking from personal experience, interacting with Lyn restored my faith in the complex. If you're a current tenant, I urge you to contact her directly with any existing or past concerns.

In conclusion, I wholeheartedly endorse Oakbrook Walk. The positive changes implemented by the new management team have truly made a difference."

"Positive Transformation Under New Management!

I recently moved into Oak Brook Walk in Aug 2023 and initially had a disappointing experience due to the previous management. For over a month, I was without a front door key, leaving my apartment vulnerable and unsafe. Despite numerous attempts to contact them via phone calls and emails, there was no response or resolution.

However, since Lynn and her new team took over, there has been a remarkable improvement in the community. Lynn's proactive approach and personal involvement with residents have been truly commendable. She goes above and beyond to address any concerns promptly and efficiently.

I urge anyone reading previous reviews to disregard them because Oak Brook Walk is now a fantastic place to live under Lynn's management. Thank you, Lynn, for making this community a great place to call home"
